The Story Behind the Name

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in Boss Energy Solutions! I’m Jeff Trahan, and I’m excited to share a little about how this company came to be.

For those who don’t know me, I previously founded and led Shamrock Energy Solutions, which I sold to Danos in 2019. After taking five years away from the energy industry, I found myself eager for a new challenge and the right opportunity to get back into the field I love.

Shamrock Energy Solutions grew from 150 to over 1,000 employees across nine U.S. locations, expanding into I&E, power generation, project management, and more.

That opportunity came when a small labor business — ES&H Production Group — crossed my desk. The timing was perfect for both me and the sellers. Because the Production Group had been part of the larger ES&H family of companies, I needed to find a new name and identity for this next chapter.

After some thought, I landed on a name that felt both powerful and meaningful: Boss Energy Solutions. Most people immediately understand the “Energy Solutions” part — it ties us to the energy industry and reflects our commitment to being a solutions-driven business. But many ask, Why Boss?

Here’s the story.

When I was in elementary school, I met a teacher from one of our local high schools. She took a liking to me, and because my name is Jeff, she gave me a nickname — Jefé. At the time, I didn’t realize why, but I later learned she called me that because I reminded her of Jack Ritter’s character on Three’s Company. I’d see her at various events over the years, and eventually, I became her student. She continued calling me Jefé, and the name stuck. Even today, friends still call me by that nickname or some version of it.

For those who may not know, Jefé means Boss in Spanish.

This story isn’t just about a nickname — it’s a reminder of where I come from and the values I carry forward. As Boss Energy Solutions grows, we will always stay grounded as a family-oriented company, focused on providing a safe, stable work environment with industry-leading benefits for our team.
