On July 1st, Boss Energy Solutions launched our new Safety Device Verification Checklist—a critical tool designed to ensure that all safety devices on production facilities, process or utility systems, and equipment were:
Installed correctly
Functioning as designed
Fully compliant with 30 CFR 250.804 and BSEE regulations

This checklist is a workable document completed by the Person in Charge (PIC) or Unit Work Authority (UWA) at the start of each crew change, once Boss employees have arrived at their assigned offshore platforms. Completed checklists are then submitted to the Boss HSE Department for documentation and ongoing compliance tracking.
Why We Created This Tool
The Safety Device Verification Checklist is the result of lessons learned across the industry and within our own operations, including:
Feedback from BSEE annual and unannounced inspections.
Industry incidents involving overlooked or improperly functioning safety devices.
Costly Incidents of Non-Compliance (INCs) tied to devices not being properly installed, maintained, or monitored—especially when placed in bypass during activities like startup, maintenance, or testing.
How It's Used
The Safety Device Verification Checklist supports multiple operational needs:
Pre-Use & Start-Up Checks
Routine Maintenance & Inspections
Regulatory Compliance Testing & Audits
Incident Investigations
Management of Change (MOC) Procedures
We believe in learning from the past to protect the future. That’s why we’re implementing stronger administrative processes and targeted employee training—to ensure these issues do not happen on our watch. At Boss Energy Solutions, safety and compliance are more than checkboxes—they are our commitment to our clients, our people, and the environment.
